Having owned this for a while now, some thoughts. Firstly it is a well made flash, as you would expect from Olympus. There is a pull-out difuser for those who are shooting with wide angle lenses, and this does require careful handling as it feels a litle flimsy in operation, but for me that has not been a problem. The flash links well with the E-510, and has only over- or under-exposed on a couple of occasions (which may well be down to an error on my part). Generally the flash has matched well with the lenses used (kit lenses, and the 70-3000mm lens) to give excellent exposures whether the flash has been bounced or directed. In common with other flashes I have tried, the flash intensity can appear harsh in some situations, but an improvised plastic bag diffuser (using the packaging that came with the product) has compensated admirably enough for me! (The exposure is adapted automatically). In any event, there is plenty of scope to play with, as you can adjust flash intensity manually if you so wish. The GN number can also be altered on the flash.
One thing Olympus could work on is the quality of documentation that is shipped with the flash. I did not find it easy to interpret even after a couple of judicious readings, and I still return to it now in hope of some further clarifications, but as the flash is prety intuitive in use, this is not a major drawback. Clearer explanations would facilitate best use quicker though!
I have been very pleased with the purchase; I did look at the bigger FL-50-R, but given the price diferential could not really justify buying it in my case. I have not been disappointed in the FL-36-R, as it has proved to be a more than capable performer. Flash recycling rate is quick enough for me – I use Duracell rechargables – and I seem to get plenty of shots before the bateries need replacing.
A word of advice – do shop around, and check out voucher codes! The Amazon price is competitive against most, but I found mine at a very considerably lower price at a reputable camera store, including a 10% voucher discount.

Coupled with my Olympus E420, this is the best flash I have owned since my first Olympus camera + flash in 1977. To put it simply, it will handle any need for a flash-gun that an amateur photographer will encounter. You could add more power with its sister, the FL-50, but that’s a choice you will make for yourself.

Using it with an Olympus E-series is simplicity itself, and, as long as you have made the right choices, like not forgetting the red-eye reduction, it will give you the right results. The build quality is exceptionally good.

This is a superb product. I have been searching for a long time to find a camera bag that is really useful. I now have somewhere to carry Charger, batteries, CF cards and have plenty of room for magazines etc. The fact that the camera pod is removable makes it well worth the money.

Very well build and look sturdy + seems good quality. I can load 550D + grip attacked + 18-135, Carl Zeiss Sonnar 135 + Tessar 50. Still have place for Cokin system (filter holder, 2 adapters and 4 filter with hard case) and YN560 flash. That is not count remote, small cleaning lens item, batteries. If needed, a Mac 13in still fine (but bag will become heavy).<br/>It has small place for memory cards and pens as well as A4 documents (at backside). Rain cover and name tag are also included. Zip is wonderfull (look better than other branch). Two shoulder traps (long and short). One more, you can pull camera out by zip top (dont need to open case) <= this is perfect for photographiers.<br/>In short, it is perfect for amatuer photographier (xxxD and xxD Canon Dxxxx Nikon + at least 2 lenses + 1 flash). Laptop up to 13in (but i suggest tablet - much better than laptop). It is size of 33 which is medium size of Up-rise Messenger series. Very well build and look sturdy + seems good quality. I can load 550D + grip attacked + 18-135, Carl Zeiss Sonnar 135 + Tessar 50. Still have place for Cokin system (filter holder, 2 adapters and 4 filter with hard case) and YN560 flash. That is not count remote, small cleaning lens item, batteries. If needed, a Mac 13in still fine (but bag will become heavy).
It has small place for memory cards and pens as well as A4 documents (at backside). Rain cover and name tag are also included. Zip is wonderfull (look better than other branch). Two shoulder traps (long and short). One more, you can pull camera out by zip top (dont need to open case) <= this is perfect for photographiers.
In short, it is perfect for amatuer photographier (xxxD and xxD Canon Dxxxx Nikon + at least 2 lenses + 1 flash). Laptop up to 13in (but i suggest tablet – much better than laptop). Just one thing need to remember: donot put too much items, it can carry all, but it will be heavy.

I have a Neet splitter (one hdmi in, four hdmi out) running from my sky hd box. It runs two 15m cablesson ivuna hdmi and one 20m ivuna cable. The 15m carry the signal with no problem, the 20m only shows a green screen when on an hd channel. I used a Neet signal extander whch has solved the problem and now I have a perfect picture on my lcd in the kitchen. The 20m seemed to struggle with hd from my sky box. No problem with non hd channels. The neet extender sorted out the problem so overall it was a cheap way of conneting tvs around the house to sky. Overall good quality cable, just needed a boost.
